Today I am in Washington DC and I am attending the Points of Light Institute’s Tribute to President and Mrs. George HW Bush. The tribute is to honor him for starting the Points of Light and for his unwavering service as a public figure and volunteer. I will report tomorrow on the gala held at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
My guest on the show today is none other than Kami Huyse. I met Kami for the first time in Austin, Texas at SXSW and she is a wonderful person and a great Mom! I talk today with Kami after some work to get her on the show last minute from DC, to speak to us about her company ZoeticaMedia.com and how they are working in the world of nonprofits.
Kami Watson Huyse, authors Communication Overtones, on the topic of public relations and social media strategy. She is considered a national leader in the use of social media for public relations. A 17-year-veteran of public relations, she speaks at social media events and conferences all over the country and her work in social media has earned her the SNCR’s 2008 and 2010 awards and IABC’s 2009 Gold Quill of Excellence Award. She ran the virtual PR agency, My PR Pro, from 2002-2009 and is the strategic architect for many successful social media campaigns.
Kami’s experience is broad, and she oversees account management for Zoetica. She has worked for corporate clients such as SeaWorld, Time Warner Cable, Network Solutions and Frost Bank. She also has worked for many non-profit organizations such as the Manufactured Housing Institute, America’s Charities and the American Red Cross. She is APR certified and was named the Public Relations Professional of the Year by the Public Relations Association of America San Antonio.
